A Good Cause Lands Fishin' Sister Her First Bass

Image
Ms. Fishin' Sister caught her first bass in the pond this evening. She was thrilled about the catch, and credited all to our pal, Marc over at Pure Fishing for the awesome  Shakespeare Two-Piece Ladyfish Complete Spinning Kit Combo (5-Feet 6-Inch) and practical fishing advise. Due to the nice set up, I believe Anna gained confidence and renewed interest in fishing. Remember your first bass? Use the comment section below to share your story. TIPS THAT HELPED FISHIN' SISTER CATCH BASS: Most people know that fishing for bass is better on overcast days than bright sunny days. This is a real basic pattern that fishermen tend to pick up on early, but how about wind? I have found a slight chop in the surface can turn on bass while no wind or heavy wind turns them off. During a cold front bass become sluggish and are sent deeper than usual. Does rain trigger bass into feeding, or turn them right off? Rain seems to trigger bass into feeding heavily, wi...

It's a Good Day for Fishin'

So, this is what happens when you take a friend's fishing advise! I've been fishing this same South Carolina pond daily for about three months with only small bass biting. Today, I switch my worm and my technique, following the advise of my friend, Walter. This one didn't come easy and the line broke just as I was getting him to land. I was thankful for the 5 minute fight he gave as he was too tuckered to save himself. The is the first fish that I have kept, all others have been CPR. I was a hard decision to keep him and I almost cried putting him on ice, but this one is going on the wall! Saturday's Catch of the Day

A friend let us fish their awesome pond today. We couldn't stay long as we had the little guy in tow. But, on second cast I snagged this beauty! My daughter, Anna, holding a bass for the first time! Matthew was so proud of his mama!

Catch of the Day

Fishin' Papa caught this small bass in our backyard. We caught about five in all today...all rather small though. In this 90 degree weather, the only bait we're getting bites with is the Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw Fishing Lures 12 Pack Junebug . I believe it's something about purple lures this time of year.

Catch More Fish!

Image
These 5 tips will help you catch more fish. 1. Varying the speed of the retrieve gets better results than a stead retrieve. 2. Know the characteristics, habitat and food preferences of the fish you are after. 3. Learn the contours of lakes and streams you fish - the dropoffs, holes, weedbeds and the location of underwater bars. 4. Know the temperature ranges most favorable to the species of fish and the depth at which these ranges are located. 5. Have a good selection of lures, because fish are choosy and there is no perfect lure for all conditions. General tips that may improve your hook-up ratio: - Wear natural colored clothing when fishing clear waters. Blues, greens and browns blend into scenery and won't spook fish as easily. - Your line twisted? Remove all hardware and drag behind the boat for a short distance and twists will be removed. - When fishing pockets in lily pads and weeds, drop an Arbogast Hula Popper in lightly, then just give it a twitch. The comb...
