South Carolina Fishing Report
I check out the fishing reports for Lake Wateree daily. It is updated regularly and gives a wealth of information. Check out the site and find the scoop on your favorite SC fishing hole!

Fishing Report (Updated 8.5.2010)
Lake Wateree is at 97.5% of full pool.
Catfish:  Very good. Captain Rodger Taylor (803-517-7828) reports that he has had some very strong days on the water despite the heat.  Some big fish have been caught anchoring up the river, and it appears that those fish are still recovering from the spawn.  Down the lake catfish are fat and drifting cut bait is working well.

Crappie: Good.  Will Hinson of the Southern Crappie Tournament Trail reports he's catching most of his crappie on the upper most end of the lake from Beaver Creek to Wateree Creek.  He is targeting brush in 12-18 feet of water, and the fish are flat on the bottom beside the brush.  Will is working one rod with a plain jig and moving the bait very slowly, tight to the brush.  Fish Stalker Lures Ugly Green has been the best jig.
Largemouth Bass: Fair to good.  Camden’s Dearal Rodgers reports that the fishing at Wateree right now is good on offshore structure.  The bass have short feeding periods usually in the morning and evening a couple hours before dark.  A strong pattern right now is working Buckeye Lures Football Mop Jigs slowly on the bottom, and downsized Carolina Rigs with 1/4 oz. weights and Zoom Trick Worms.  Zara Spooks walked on the surface and buzzbaits will get some bites early in the morning on steep rocky banks and points.
DHEC Fish Advisories: Due to PCB advisories visit http://www.scdhec.gov/environment/water/fish/Advisories/lakeWateree.htm before consuming any Lake Wateree fish.
