The Croaker Fish

The Atlantic Croker Fish:

Croaker are a popular fish due to their hardy nature, accessibility and prolific numbers. They are among the first fish to be caught in the spring and are caught over a wide range of habitats. Croaker can be caught from piers, jetties, inlets, in bays and from the surf.

Croaker baits include shrimp, crabs, squid, cut fish, bloodworms and more. Anglers also have excellent success using artificial bait products such as Fishbites bait strips and Berkley Gulp products. In addition to cut baits, croaker are caught on a variety of jigs and other saltwater lures. They can also be caught in the shallows and grass beds using fly fishing gear.

Berkley Big Bass Lake Murray Challenge

September 2, 2010 The 1st Annual Berkley Big Bass Lake Murray Challenge is set for October 2nd, 2010. The location of the inaugural event will be at Billy Dreher Island State Park. The Big Bass Challenge is bass fishing's version of "Texas Hold Em," which matches angling skill with a weigh-in strategy. The competition day consists of six one-hour periods where anglers can weigh-in their single largest fish. Each hour an angler can bring one fish to the scales to try and stay in the running for a chance to receive one of the five, hourly cash awards. Over $18,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded during the event, which include the hourly prizes and grand prize - guaranteed payouts regardless of field size. The exclusive aspect of this tournament is that only Berkley baits can be used during the challenge.
